Primary Subjects
UKLA works together with the English Association (EA) and the National Association for the Teachers of English (NATE) to produce the English pages for the new Primary Subjects magazine which is sent to all primary schools in England every term. Primary Subjects brings together the expertise and experience of the subject associations and is published on a termly basis by the Council for Subject Associations. The magazine offers subject expertise based on classroom experience and whilst aimed primarily at subject leaders, it can be shared with all staff. For more details, visit http://www.subjectassociation.org.uk. The collaboration with UKLA, EA and NATE offers the opportunity to inform teachers by:
- providing information and approaches to the teaching of English, together with recent and relevant research for classroom practitioners
- describing classroom ideas and activities to try out and to share with colleagues
- bringing together up-to-date news of resources, publications and conferences.
Each organisation has a slightly different stance - some articles take a practical approach and describe activities easily replicated in the classroom, whilst others are more philosophical in nature. UKLA aims to share recent practice, and sometimes research, by its members and we are keen to showcase your contributions.
